The Church of God in the Name of Christ Jesus has been a voice of truth in this area since September, 1973. It was founded by Bro. Stewart Duty, Lucy Duty, and Bro. Johnny W. Meade on March 2, 1974. The Church's name is taken from 1 Thessalonians 2:14. The churches of God which are in Judaea are in Christ Jesus. The first pastor, Bro. Stewart Duty served until January 1980. Our present pastor, Dr. Johnny W. Meade has served since 1980. The church started in a little, store front building at the mouth of Ed Stone Branch at Banco, Big Creek, West Virginia in September 1973, then moved into a new, small church just below the first location on Big Creek Road (September 1974). In April of 1991, the church was moved to it's present location into a newer and bigger building located on Trace Fork of Big Creek, West Virginia. We baptize according to Acts 2:38. We believe and preach the Oneness of God. We believe and preach the baptism of the Holy Ghost witnessed with the speaking in tongues. We believe and preach holiness in dress and lifestyle.
